Multiple Pedestrians Hurt After Truck Veers Off Road

Location (Nevada & Las Vegas)

Access through the intersection of E. Las Vegas Street and S. Nevada Avenue was restricted for several hours yesterday while Colorado Springs Police investigated an auto versus pedestrian collision which took place around 7:41 a.m.  Multiple pedestrians were injured after an 18-year-old pickup truck driver veered off the road on northbound Nevada and crashed into a bus stop bench and light pole.  In the context of this terrible incident, we want to remind folks of the types of insurance that may be available to pedestrians who have been injured in similar circumstances.

First, assuming a crash like this was the fault of the motorist and was not the result of some unforeseen circumstance that was beyond his control or duty to control, the injured folks here will look to the liability insurance available on the Motorist’s automobile policy.  It’s unlikely to be adequate to make those who suffered serious injuries whole and it’s also unlikely to pay out until a final settlement agreement is reached.  Injured pedestrians will also want to rule out additional liability coverage through other automobile policies or umbrella policies.

After considering all liability insurance which may apply, pedestrians injured in similar circumstances must also look at their own insurance policies which may apply: this can be anything from health insurance to automobile insurance.  Didn’t think your car insurance applied if you were not in your car when an accident happened?  Think again: in this type of scenario, it’s likely that an injured pedestrian’s Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist, at a minimum, would be implicated here.

Sometimes, even after taking all the right precautions, pedestrians are injured by the actions of a negligent driver.  Pedestrians involved in car crashes are often severely injured or worse, they perish.  They can end up with complex medical needs and massive ongoing expenses.  Cases like these call for representation by experienced Colorado Springs Injury Attorneys like those at Rosenbaum & Wootton, P.C.  If you were injured in an auto versus pedestrian accident in Colorado Springs or the surrounding areas, contact the Colorado Springs Injury Attorneys at Rosenbaum & Wootton, P.C. by calling or texting us at 719.634.0102 or by clicking on this link to schedule your FREE INITIAL CONSULTATION.
