I-25 Gap Widening Starts Today
The long awaited widening of the I-25 corridor between Monument and Castle Rock begins today. Though many in our community are relieved that the much-needed and overdue improvements are finally underway, we are left to wonder how the work in progress will affect commutes and traffic safety along an already dangerous stretch of highway.
You have heard that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure and this applies to traveling, whether it is on your daily commute or a periodic trip to/from Denver from/to Colorado Springs. Staying informed about the phase and status of the Gap widening project will help you to plan for efficient travel while the Interstate is under construction.
- Phase 1: Begins Fall 2018, Spans Sky View Lane to Castle Rock.
- Phase 2: Begins Winter 2018, Spans Monument to Greenland Road.
- Phase 3: Begins Summer 2019 from Greenland Road to Sky View Lane.
The forecasted completion date is 2021 and tolls will be implemented in 2022.
