School Bus Safety Rules for Drivers

Schools in and around Colorado Springs have begun the 2017/2018 school year in recent days.  D-20 went back on Monday, August 14th, while D-11 and D-12 went back to school on Thursday, August 17th.  We are taking this opportunity to remind folks of school bus and school zone safety rules to follow to help keep our Colorado Springs kids safe.

School Bus Safety Rules For Drivers

  • When driving behind a bus, allow enough distance to stop if yellow lights begin flashing.
  • It is illegal in all 50 states to pass a school bus that is stopped to un/load children.
  • Stop far enough back from a school bus to allow children to safely enter and exit the bus.
  • Be aware of your surroundings: children can be unpredictable and may ignore hazards around them.
