Eclipse Monday – Avoid Hazards On The Road

A rare solar eclipse will be visible from Colorado Springs on Monday, August 21, 2017 from 10:23 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. with maximum eclipse at 11:47 a.m.  We remind our friends and neighbors to be aware of others on the road during this time as this is expected to present a heightened opportunity for distracted driving.

Please be aware of your surroundings on Monday morning/afternoon as the rare occurrence of  a solar eclipse will present a host of hazards for motorists.

  • Traffic may be increased for motorists traveling to/from their eclipse viewing destinations;
  • Watch for motorists who have pulled over on the side of the road to watch the eclipse;
  • Be aware that others may be distracted while operating their vehicles; and
  • Remember that other drivers, who may not be distracted themselves, may take sudden, evasive action to avoid a collision with distracted drivers.

Finally, for your own safety and for the safety of those around you, please DO NOT look at the eclipse while driving, even if you have the proper eyewear, because taking your eyes off the road, even for a moment, can lead to permanent and devastating consequences.

If you are injured in a crash because of another driver’s negligence or distracted driving during the eclipse, contact the Colorado Springs Injury Attorneys at Rosenbaum & Wootton, P.C. to schedule a consultation so we can help you recover for your injury claim from the responsible parties by calling 719.634.0102 or by clicking on this link to schedule your FREE INITIAL CONSULTATION.
