Colorado Classic 2017 – Road Closures & Traffic Delays Expected
Expect traffic delays and road closures on day 1 of the 2017 Colorado Classic which will send cyclists racing through the city streets of Colorado Springs. Our office is located on the race route and while we are open for business, we expect traffic in our area to be very heavy, so clients and prospective clients are encouraged to schedule visits for another day.
The event website has additional information: https://www.veloramacolorado.com/colorado-classic/
City police resources will also be stretched today to assist with the event, so if you are involved in a crash, police response to the scene may be slower than normal and you may be advised to complete a counter (cold) report if NONE of the following criteria are present in your crash:
- A driver is suspected of driving under the influence of drugs;
- A driver is suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol;
- A driver lacks current or valid license, registration, and/or insurance;
- Damage to public property such as a street sign or utility pole occurs;
- A fatality occurs; or
- A driver or passenger is injured and requires medical attention.
If you were involved in a crash while CSPD resources are occupied with a large event in the city like the Colorado Classic and you suspect ANY of the above criteria are present, do not hesitate to call police to the scene of the crash. YOU are their priority.
Why is it so important to call police?
At-fault drivers may try to convince the other driver that calling police to the scene is unwarranted in an attempt to avoid a traffic ticket. The at-fault driver may later report a completely different version of events to her insurance company to further evade taking responsibility for her actions.
If you were involved in a crash today and police did not come to the scene, make sure you obtain all information from the other driver, including drivers’ license, insurance, and registration. You also need to take photos of the scene and the vehicles if it is safe to do so. If you believed you were not injured at the scene, but later discover injury, seek medical attention immediately. File a counter report online at Springsgov.com as soon as practicable. Then, contact the Colorado Springs Injury Attorneys at Rosenbaum & Wootton, P.C. to schedule a consultation so we can help you recover for your injury claim from the responsible parties by calling 719.634.0102 or by clicking on this link to schedule your FREE INITIAL CONSULTATION.
